So it has been a little while since my last post and since I have gotten a little bit done on the frame for my Prusa Mendel I thought I might share some pictures and thoughts along the way.
Obtaining the required parts.
The parts in the pictures in order from top to bottom are.
Hardware kit: Ebay: Bluskreen
Threaded and Smooth Rod kit: Ebay: Bluskreen
Prusa Mendel i2 Printed parts: Ebay: Northshir “These are great kits and the print quality is good and sturdy made with ABS, he also sells kits for other versions of Reprap.
Pololu A4988 Stepper Driver Black Edition: Can be found on amazon in packs of 5, or you can find packs of 5 on Ebay for cheaper but there shipped from china so it’s an extra wait.
The next few images are of the Wades Reloaded Accessible Extruder (came with the printed parts kit), The hot end is a J-Head MKV-B you can get them on Ebay or you can get them Here, or Here for a bit cheaper but there always out of stock.
The 608zz Bearings: Ebay: Bluskreen
The T2.5 timming belt has to many teeth for the pulleys I am using (Might have to upgrade the pulleys) I’ll see if i can’t make it work for now. These can be had on Ebay by the meter from Ebay: 3dPrintingusa for 5$ a meter. He has other sizes as well.
The Stepper motors are Nema 17 Shinano-Kenshi’s I got a lot of 5 of them for a decent price from Ebay: yellowvirtualsales
The SPDT switch’s are also from Ebay: Memotronics_llc there cheap and very small you will need a way to fasten them to the holders, I went and bought some 2-56 x 1/2 mini pan phil ms and 2-56 Miniature Hex Nuts from Freddy’s I’m sure any hardware store will carry them.
The controller I have not settled on yet as I have both a Sanguinololu and a RAMPS coming and will have to test both out to see what controller I like best.
The Heated Bed (Not shown) I will be getting is also on Ebay: Diytechshop
After a week or so of searching for the best way to put this thing together I just dove in. I did have some problems that I will point out and show you how I fixed them and could have avoided them all together.
I’m going to keep this part short and there will be a part two with more detail on the parts and Assembly. For now I leave you with the completed frame minus the timing belt and the LM8UU bearings as well as the heated bed.
That’s pretty much it I will post part 2 later with better detail, I don’t have allot of time today to update.
Until next time.
Thanks to everyone on Ebay who I have bought an item from for this project. And to northshir for your help and suggestions.
